Understanding Behavior: A Key to Better School Days

Teachers and  parents alike all struggle with some behaviors and actions of the children in our care. It would be nice to have a magic formula—a specific bit of advice or strategy to work in all situations? Of course there is no magic formula, but it helps to remember that children’s behaviors do not occur in a vacuum. Instead, they are driven by the five basic issues or possibilities that help explain a child’s actions.

BehaviorAtSchool.com is a helpful and personalized utility that will allows your child to better communicate the emotions and stress surrounding the events, classrooms, children and teachers for each school day.  Our fun platform will track each day and provide the parent and teacher with the information they need to understand problems that the child would otherwise not express and communicate.  This constructive analysis will assist parents with solving behavior problems before they escalate to more serious conduct issues.

Our utility will allow your child to answer a series of questions when they return from school each day.  Each question is simple to answer and is done so by ranking their emotions and feelings to the subject on a scale of 1 to 10.  The parent can also modify the questions as they see fit to better help address problems the child is facing and for the child's understanding.

Let us take for example the following question:

"Did You Enjoy Recess Today?"

The answers to this question can help identify social problems with other children, disciplinary problems, and discontent with the playing atmosphere; such as not being able to obtain a basketball and being excluded from his favorite activity.

The following chart indicates that during the first 4-days of tracking your child's recess, your child reported they felt their recess was a 8,9,8, and 7 which is considered a 'positive experience'.  The following days your child reports that his experience on the playground is degenerating which can reflect your child is struggling with issues.  This indication provides you the ability to talk to your child about recess and add additional questions to the utility in the future to further analysis the problem.  By visually seeing the breakdown in your child's recess activity you can head off future problems such as confrontation with other children and out lashes in the classroom.

Track Classrooms, Activities, and Subjects

You will obtain valuable information and charts by having your child answers his daily school questions.  You will be able to identify problems within the classroom as well as monitor behavior between individual students.

Sample Questions

Our friendly utility allows you to write your own questions and modify them as you see fit.  This will allow you to continue to explore potential problems and monitor specific situations that you feel need attention.

Easy Daily Tracking

Have your child sit down on the computer when your child arrives home from school each day. Read each question to your child and ask them to rank the question from a scale of 1 (bad day) to 10 (great day). After answering each question you can submit the information to the charting system. You can review the charts daily or weekly and make changes to the questions as you see fit. You can also cross compare multiple questions to see trends that may effect each other.

Comparing Trends

It is common to find that behavior problems can be caused by multiple factors.  For example, if your child is having a hard time with another child on the playground, and also shares a classroom with the same individual, than what happens on the playground that day may directly effect his or her behavioral problems within that classroom.  Our system will allow you to track trends for each individual classroom as well as an infinite number of user-defined questions.  You can view individual charts that isolate specific trends that you feel may be effecting each other. This will give you the ability and insight to deconstruct the situation and determine the true problems your child is having.

Improve Your Child's Behavior and Education

Learning to identify problems in their early stages will enhance your ability to deal with the issues your children face in our school system.  I hope that you will put our web service to the test and join others that have used our system to analysis their children's behavior patterns and build an open and constructive communication between themselves and their children.
